Finding Courage
Making art is one thing. Managing your mind during the process of creating is quite another.
The process of creating comes loaded with many challenges. All of the choices and decisions. Coming up with a good design and effective composition. Making interesting shapes. Mixing beautiful colors. Accurate drawing. Good value contrast. Orchestrating a variety of edges. Executing some gorgeous line quality.
Whew! No pressure, right?
Managing your mind could include resistance, procrastination, perfectionism, fear, failure, rejection, loss of confidence and being too self critical.
Its all in there. And yet, we must do our best to find the courage to create anyway.
It is so important to try and do everything we can to create in the face of all of the challenges we might encounter while making art.
Most artists that I know could use a little help with mind management.
As a coach/mentor, my ultimate goal is to motivate visual artists toward inspired action. I do my best to help artists get back on track to being the best, most productive and creative artists they want to be.
And… to help artists find the courage to dive head first into that project that they have always wanted to begin, but for some reason or another have not been able to start.
If coaching sounds intriguing to you, I have come up with an easy, fun and inspiring way for you to experience what coaching is all about.
Announcing the CREATE ANYWAY SESSIONS!
Beginning Monday, May 18, I will lead a series of Zoom discussions on a variety of topics exploring many of the issues that all artists encounter during the creative process. I will do some coaching and you will have a chance to join in and participate in the conversations if you want to.
The CREATE ANYWAY SESSIONS will also provide a way for artists to connect, engage with a community of like-minded people and enjoy some camaraderie.
I invite you to sign up and be a part of the dialog, or simply watch and listen. You are bound to hear something that resonates with you.
Sessions will be held Monday through Friday, May 18 - 22, between 11-11:30 am PT.
Best,
David
