“Things are not difficult to make; what is difficult is putting ourselves in the state of mind to make them.”

Constantin Brancusi, Sculptor, Romania, 1876-1957

Don’t Answer The Phone

Do your work.

Show up. Begin. Stay with it.

It’s time to concentrate, focus and create.

Minimize distractions. (Don’t answer the phone.)

Stay working.

Even if you don’t know what to do next.

Even if you are afraid, because you know what to do next, but you fear that you might mess it up.

Do your work.

Especially if you are afraid. If you are afraid, it usually means that what you are about to do is very important to you.

Be curious.

Be fascinated with your idea, subject matter, materials, media, technique and style.

Do your work.

Play. Explore. Experiment.

Try things.

Take risks.

Make mistakes. Lots of them.

Stay working.

Become inspired by working. Don’t wait to begin working until you are inspired.

Make something happen.

Be patient.

Do your work.

Best,

David
