COMMITMENT VS RESISTANCE
Had so much fun creating this small piece. I tried to just let myself go and trust my instincts and my hand. I wish I could do this more often. 10”x 8”, acrylic, collage and pencil on wood.© 2020 David Limrite
“We want to try, even though we sometimes fail, to lay the groundwork for art that is a gift to mankind. Art that is stirring and moving. Art that is created from ones heart-blood.”
Edvard Munch, Artist
Commitment vs Resistance
If you have a choice, always choose commitment. Once you commit to something, you tell yourself that whatever you are setting out to do is important to you. It also tells the world that you are serious and you mean business.
Commitment is a great motivator.
Commitment keeps you focused.
Commitment can mean the difference between success and failure.
Commitment keeps you going when things are going well, and can get you back on track when you become derailed.
Resistance, on the other hand, can lead to procrastination, self-doubt and distraction.
Commit to a single painting today. Or, a series of paintings that you will work on for the next three months. Commit to a subject matter, a medium, a style, a color, a surface, a size. Commit to a regular daily or weekly painting schedule.
Tell yourself that your creativity is important to you. And, tell the world that you mean business.
Choose commitment.
Best,
David
