“You measure the size of the accomplishment by the obstacles you had to overcome to reach your goals.”
Booker T. Washington, American educator, author, orator and advisor

Let’s Remember What’s Important Here

What’s important is that you are an artist who makes stuff. You are a maker who is making.

It doesn’t matter what you are making. It doesn’t matter if what you are making is good or bad. It doesn’t matter whether you like what you are making or not.

It’s not the work that matters.

What matters is the making.

The activity. The time spent. The attempt. The decision making. The assessment. The contemplation. The re-do. The adjustment. The trying. The exploration.

And, the trying again.

It’s also about the courage required to even attempt to bring your vision to life. To make your idea a reality. To take the necessary risks. To not care what people think. To not play it safe. To take the road less travelled. To not do what is expected. To not be predictable. To expect failure along the way. To overcome obstacles.

And, create anyway.

What’s important here is that you believe in your ability to be able to create what you envision.

And in order to do that, you have to make a lot of stuff. And keep making it, regardless of what else is going on.

Be a maker who is making.

That’s what’s really important.

Best,

David

Want to let you know how helpful this CAC experience has been for getting me painting again. The Critiques, of course, are always helpful in learning what makes a better painting. The added coaching & mindset topics & exercises have added a whole dimension in analyzing my blocks & ways to work through them.
