“Doing something endures - and one doesn’t easily regret having done something. The more active the better, and I’d rather fail than sit idle.”
Vincent van Gogh, Artist
The Great Reward
There are so many benefits to being an artist. I am sure that you have your own list.
My list looks something like this:
I get to be a life-long learner.
I love to be involved in the practice of my craft.
I get to think, come up with ideas, develop visions for those ideas, and then make those ideas a reality.
I get to see the world through the lens of an artist.
I get to experience creative freedom.
I get to make something out of nothing.
I love being involved in the process - the act of putting paint on canvas or charcoal on paper.
Creating energizes me and makes me feel alive.
Creating gives my life purpose.
I get to spend my life doing something I love
Regardless of whatever is on your list, there is one great reward that we all share.
The greatest reward of being a creative person, is that you get to do it. You get to go on that journey.
And, ultimately, that journey is the reward.
What are some of the things on your list?
Best,
David
