A NEW BEGINNING

Feeling grateful as I write this. Hard work in the studio does pay off. This piece is doing many of the things I want my next body of work to do. Right amount of figure, right amount of abstraction, and so much more. I am looking forward to what springs forth from my brush next year. 16”x 12”, acrylic, collage and pencil. © 2019 David Limrite

“Depending on its persistence, depending on its importance, depending on what role it is playing, an idea will keep intruding in little bursts and either crash through or be wiped out.”

Sidney Lumet

A New Beginning

My creativity matters. I choose to work. I open the door of my studio. The smell of art hits my nose like a rush of wind. I flip on the light switch. The lights flicker and power on. The dark studio is suddenly illuminated as if a flash of lightning just crackled overhead.

My brain is filled with the spark of a new idea that I cannot wait to explore and investigate. I anticipate the discoveries that await.

As my eyes adjust to the bright lights of the studio, I see many paintings in various stages of completion begging for my attention. Not today. Today is reserved for a new idea. An idea whose time has come. One that is ready to be birthed. An idea that has been marinating and percolating for some time now, and has finally bubbled to the surface.

Today, I start from a place where anything is possible. I am not sure where to begin. I am not sure where I will go. I do not know what to expect. I have no idea what will happen. But, it does not matter. Inspiration is in the air, courage is in my soul and joy is in my heart. It is time to paint. I will figure it out and learn as I go.

I will focus on the process of creating. I will build and gain momentum. I will say “yes” and accept the risks and create anyway.I will have fun every step of the way and I will love every minute of it. It’s going to be a good day and I am grateful for the time, the opportunity and this space.

Best,

David
