TRUE SUCCESS
This is one of 8 new pieces that I will be exhibiting at a three day pop-up show sponsored by The Monday Club Conservancy to benefit the Fine Arts Awards Fund for high school arts programs. The building where the show will be held is located at 1815 Monterey Street in San Luis Obispo, CA, and was designed by Julia Morgan, the celebrated architect who designed Hearst Castle. I am proud and honored to be a part of this special event, along with many other local, talented artists. If you are in the area, please stop by for the opening reception on Friday, November 15, from 6-9pm. The exhibit will also be open Saturday, November 16 from 10am-6pm and Sunday, November 17 from 1-5pm. “In The Moment No. 4”, 24”x 18”, mixed media on wood. © 2019 David Limrite

True Success
I have thought a lot about what success as an artist is for me. The list includes:
- Being able to live my life as an artist
- Creating work I love
- Exhibiting my work regularly
- Making a living with my art
There are more I am sure. You probably have your own list as well. And they may include some of what is on my short list. This list is all fine and good, but I keep coming back to the one thing that is really important to me and should be at the top of my list.
And that is LOVING THE PROCESS. The actual act of creating things that did not exist until I created them. The activity., the doing, the making and the time spent.
If I am not loving what I am doing, then the other things on my list have no meaning.
I find meaning in the process. Everything else comes from that.
True success is loving the process
I would love to know your thoughts and what might be on your list.
Best,
David
