EMBRACE THE UNPREDICTABLE
“There are images which suddenly get hold of me and I really want to do them. But the excitement and the possibilities are in the working and obviously can only come in the working.”
Francis Bacon, Artist
Embrace The Unpredictable
Sometimes, something that you try works and sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes, what you thought was going to happen didn’t happen. Sometimes, what actually happened, looks terrible. And sometimes, what actually happened, turned out far better than what you were trying to achieve.
When any of these happen, we can go one of two ways. We can either be upset, disappointed, angry or disappointed about the results.
Or, we can be delighted, open and accepting about just what happened.
The former can lead to a loss of momentum or a complete shutdown.
The latter can be a learning process and a momentum builder.
The choice is up to us. And, the interesting thing is that we make these choices with every brush stroke or pencil mark.
The idea here is to head in the direction you think you want to go and at the same time be open to embracing the unpredictable.
Best,
David
