“It all comes from you. If anything is to have value it must come from you.”

~Fritz Scholder, Artist

If you are in the process of re-connecting with your creativity, or if you are trying to establish a regular painting schedule, or if you are struggling with procrastination, inspiration or motivation…

…I have one thought for you to consider:

Start from where you are right now. And look forward.

Remember, the goal is to be creating.

There is no purpose in looking to the past. Nothing that has happened in the past matters at all. What is important is what you do today and from this day forward. There is no point in re-living past choices, decisions, failures, excuses, guilt, distractions, procrastinations, etc.

Take control of your creativity by forgetting about the past, setting up an area where you can create (if you do not already have one), establishing a reasonable, regular painting schedule, and finding a subject matter, idea or technique that excites you. And then begin. Start right now. Today.

Try to stick to your painting schedule no matter what. Manage distractions and interruptions as best as you can.

Have fun. Build momentum.

And most importantly, do not allow anything in your past prevent you from re-connecting with your creativity.

Best,

David
