CREATING IS CONFIRMATION
" When the artist is alive in any person, whatever his kind of work may be, he becomes an inventive, searching, daring, self-expressive creature. He becomes interesting to other people. He disturbs, upsets, enlightens and opens ways for a better understanding."
~ Robert Henri (The Art Spirit)
Creating is confirmation that you are fully alive.
Think about it.
As an artist, you have the ability to get inspired, have an idea, acquire the skills, have the desire, muster up the intention, watch your creation unfold, delight in the sensation of touch and experience awhole range of emotions such as anticipation, fear, happiness, doubt, frustration, anger, bliss, excitement and elation (among others).
You savor the process and tend to it with delight. You are fully engaged in a process that allows you to bring something into being from nothing. Something that never existed before. Something that only existed in your mind. Something new, beautiful, shocking, thoughtful, odd or amazing. Something that will now exist in real life.
And your energy, spirit and aliveness cannot help but show up in the finished work.
Creativity confirms that you are truly alive. And for this, you are thankful.
Best,
David
