A CREATIVITY CHECKLIST

Blog 3:24:19 Copyright 2019 David Limrite Artist Teacher Coach Mentor A Creativity Checklist.jpg

Another new piece. I am liking what is happening here. Getting more abstract, but still hanging on to some of the figure. Would still like to go more abstract. Its hard to take the figure out of the figurative artist. But I am loving the challenge. 12”x 9”, acrylic, charcoal, gesso, graphite and collage on wood. © 2019 David Limrite

A Creativity Checklist

I thought I would share a list of things that keep me on track, in touch with my purpose and focused. Enjoy.

1. Choose a meaningful project, idea or subject matter to work with. One that excites you and gets your motor running.

2. Set up and maintain a regular, realistic, weekly or daily creativity schedule, and stick with it. And then begin.

3. Quiet the voices in your head.

4. Focus. It helps to keep a journal of all your thoughts, ideas and ah-ha moments.

5. Be engaged in what you are creating every step of the way. Get lost in the process.

6. Manage distractions.

7. Action quiets fear. Create as often as you can.

8. Believe that your creativity matters.

9. Be confident and courageous.

10. Create anyway. Regardless of what else is going on in your life.

11. Momentum is everything.

12. Guess and correct. Try something, asses, adjust and try something else.

13. Commit to the creative spirit.

14. Have a place (a space) that you can totally dedicate to art making. a card table, a closet, a bedroom or a garage will do. However, it must be available and ready for you 24/7. (Hint: It is not your kitchen table).

Best,

David
