WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU'RE NOT FEELING IT
I have been doing a ton of demonstrations for artists groups lately.
They are lots of fun to do and I get to meet a whole bunch of wonderful people and terrific artists. This one was for Art Central in San Luis Obispo. Photo: Courtesy of Roxanne Rogoway
“I can’t paint. You can’t paint. Nobody can paint. You just stand there putting it on and scraping it off until you achieve the impossible. That’s how it works.”

What to Do When You're Not Feeling It
Do you ever feel like not painting?
You’re just not feeling it.
You are definitely not into it today.
Maybe you are grumpy.
You are in major procrastination mode.
You have a hundred and one excuses for not wanting to paint today.
Maybe you have a little bit of self-doubt about what you would like to attempt to create.
Maybe you’re just afraid to try.
Well… You can decide not to paint today. Which is fine. But, if you do, don’t look back. Don’t beat yourself up about your decision. Decide not to paint today, and move on. Go do other things. Feel good about your decision and enjoy your day. Hopefully you will feel like painting tomorrow.
Or… you can tell yourself, “Lucky me!” And go paint. You have the time, the desire, the talent, the interest, your favorite music, your favorite paints, your favorite colors, your favorite brushes, your comfortable paint splattered working clothes and a love for the process.
Either decision you make will set you free.
Best,
David
