CLASS DESCRIPTION
Explore contemporary figure drawing, painting and mixed media using your choice of graphite, charcoal, pastel, acrylic, and collage. Experiment with different approaches for developing the human form such as realism, expressionism and abstraction. Emphasis is placed on observation, structure, line quality, volume, composition, technique, experimentation, and originality.
Students work from a model and respond and manipulate their chosen mediums to arrive at a dynamic and unique solution. The focus is on the process of creating a drawing, painting or mixed media piece of art.
Workshop will include warm-ups, instruction and/or demo prior to each of two 40-minute poses. David will provide guidance including individual feedback during each pose. Each participant will select one piece for a group critique that will close the workshop. Student chooses own medium (drawing and/or painting).
The day will include a 15-minute break to grab lunch, take a pause, and socialize.Student furnishes their own supplies and surfaces to work on. A suggested supply list will be provided once you are enrolled.
EXPERIENCE LEVEL
Intermediate/Advanced | Students should have a basic understanding of the figure as the foundation of figure drawing is not taught in this class.
