OVERVIEW

Arroyo Grande has a few hotels. Pismo Beach is very close and has WAY more hotels - many with ocean views. Avila Beach is also a nearby possibility.

All areas are within 10 miles and are an easy commute to the Art Barn. I would stay in any of these cities (5-15 minutes away).

San Luis Obispo is a bit further if you wish to explore San Luis Obispo. FYI - the extremely popular Farmer's Market is held on Thursday evenings (not sure when/how it resumes post-Covid). If you're curious, arrive early on Thursday and head over to Higuera Street (at Broad) in SLO. This will put you near the center of it.

This hotel sits on a cliff overlooking the ocean. Many rooms have an ocean view, and there is access to a private area of beach (access via stairs). A past workshop participant enjoyed her stay here.

I (Jordan) have stayed at this hotel. Workshop participants who have stayed here in the past have become repeat customers. It is in the quaint Avila Village. The hotel is a lovely craftsmen style boutique hotel. There is no room service, but most rooms have their own hot tub and there is a restaurant/deli in the village (walking distance) where you can have a meal. There is also a walking path from the hotel to the beach. It is an easy commute to the workshop location.

We can recommend the bar menu, and have also received recommendations on their restaurant. A past workshop participant had dinner in the bar and quite enjoyed it.

I (Jordan) have been to the Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort (In Avila Beach) and enjoyed the individual hot springs which are under an oak canopy as well as their day spa. I am not sure how their rooms are but have heard that they upgraded them. The setting is lovely and I like the amenities - just can’t speak for the room quality. If you book a day spa service (regardless of whether you are staying at the resort), you will receive a complimentary 30-minute individual mineral springs hot tub visit (you can even go sans clothes as the tubs are completely private).
